Summary/Objective

The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health and integrity of Callahan & Associates. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making.

 

Essential Functions

  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Lead and mentor staff accounting, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Analyze complex financial reports and records.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement efficiency measures to streamline financial operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices and enhance financial systems.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and address any audit findings.
  • Generate ad-hoc financial reports, perform general ledger account analysis and technical accounting research as requested.
  • Facilitate the enhancement of internal controls and account reconciliation processes and ensure the effective implementation and ongoing operating effectiveness of a best-in-class controls environment.
  • Manage relationships and deliverables of outsourced accounting/finance vendors (lock box, card payments, financial institutions, other outsource firms, etc.)
  • Serve as backup for payroll processing.

 

Required Experience

6-8 years in public accounting or a corporate accounting department.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA certification strongly preferred
  • Strong background in accounting and a proven track record of driving financial success in a similar setting
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel abilities
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems (experience with Microsoft Dynamics/GreatPlains a plus)
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
  • Excellent professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
