Callahan's experts have a wide range of experience and knowledge bases within the credit union and financial service industry.
Chip is a well-known speaker on a wide range of critical industry topics, including analysis of credit union trends, credit union public and market-facing opportunities, and strategies for enhancing member value. Chip's consulting background includes strategic planning sessions to identify how credit unions can improve their financial position while enhancing member return.
Recent credit union related analysis includes changes in the corporate credit union system, the NCUA's Corporate Stabilization role, and the need for regulatory reform.
Previously he held concurrent positions at the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), as President of the Central Liquidity Facility (CLF) and Director of the Office of Programs, which included the NCUSIF and the examination process. He holds a magna cum laude undergraduate degree in government from Harvard; was a Rhodes Scholar at Merton College earning a BA and MA from the University of Oxford; and earned an MBA from Northwestern University.
He regularly presents credit union performance trends and best practices to regional and national credit union conferences, as well as credit union strategic planning sessions. He also works on strategic issues including merger evaluation and market analysis.
Previous conference appearances include the CUNA CFO and Operations Councils, CUDL's Auto Lending Symposium, CO-OP Financial Services Payments Roundtable, Western and Southwest CUNA Management Schools, and RSM McGladrey's Supervisory Committee Conference.
Jay also serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer for Callahan Financial Services, the company's wholly-owned broker/dealer that is distributor of the Trust for Credit Unions mutual funds. Jay is Treasurer of the Trust for Credit Unions funds. He currently serves on the NACUSO Board of Directors.
Before he joined Callahan 14 years ago, Jay worked for Wachovia, where he managed the seventh largest sweep program among U.S. banks. He also participated in the organization of the Financial Services Industry Group at Wachovia. A native of Phoenix, Jay earned a BBA from Southern Methodist University and an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is a CFA charterholder and holds Series 7, 24, 27, and 63 securities licenses.
Alix wears multiple hats at Callahan & Associates. As Chief Operating Officer, she oversees internal operations including Administration & Accounting, Marketing & Design and Application Development. Her public facing role is as Vice President of Media, where she has overall responsibility for Callahan's content delivery on the company's primary information channels, including CreditUnions.com, three printed publications, and Callahan's educational webinar channel, CUtv.
During her 14 years with Callahan, Alix has led strategic initiatives in key areas, including the development and introduction of new products and services aimed at helping credit unions improve their performance. She led a team in 1999 that rolled out the first generation of CreditUnions.com as an information portal for the industry and has guided it through three enhanced "versions." Today, an internal team of writers and analysts publish content daily for an audience of 16,000 credit union executives with a focused vision on data, analysis and insight that move credit unions to take action. In 2006, Alix designed and launched Callahan's award-winning quarterly journal Credit Union Strategy & Performance (CUSP).
Alix hosts weekly webinars and gives presentations related to credit union marketing, growth strategies, SEG development, share growth and member retention. Her expertise also includes assisting credit union suppliers with credit union marketing strategy, including partnerships and sponsorship opportunities. Alix also helps credit unions with in-person strategic planning sessions to identify opportunities for growth.
Alix holds an undergraduate degree in Japanese and Political Science from the University of Michigan; a Masters in International Affairs from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore; and an MBA with distinction from the University of Oxford SAÃD Business School, England.
Jon has served as President of Credit Union Student Choice since its launch in 2008. He was responsible for the capital raising process, company formation, and staff hiring. Today Credit Union Student Choice is the nation's leading student loan CUSO, serving over 200 credit unions and helping more than 20,000 families send their children to college. Under Jon's leadership, Credit Union Student Choice expanded to a team of 14 professionals, directed the company to become both net income and cash flow positive, and grew loans under management to over $440 million in under 3 years. In 2009 Jon accepted the NACUSO Collaboration and Innovation award on behalf of Credit Union Student Choice. Today Jon works with the management team and CUSC Board on continuing to help the organization fulfill its mission- Changing the Way America Pays for Higher Education.
Jon is holds a BA from Denison University and a MBA from the Kogod School of Business at American University. Jon serves on the Board of Credit Union Student Choice, MyCU Mortgage, and Procura, LLC.
Scott started his work in credit unions as an internet strategist for the Credit Union Online Organizational Link (COOL) CUSO in 1996 where he helped implement new web strategies for several of the industry's largest credit unions.
Scott is also Executive Vice President of Credit Union Student Choice - a private student loan company he helped form which Callahan manages.
Scott is a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where he received a B.S. in Business and Economics with a minor in Chinese Language. In 2008, he completed his Executive MBA at the University of Oxford's Said Business School in England.
